What are dermal fillers?
Dermal fillers are gel-like substances injected into the skin to physically lift and sculpt it, correcting wrinkles, folds, scars and asymmetries of the face. At the Skin Deep Aesthetics clinic we use Restylane® a safe non animal dermal filler containing hyaluronic acid, a substance found occurring naturally in the body. As we age natural hyaluronic acid decreases leading to hollowing of features and deep line formation. Dermal fillers last from 4-18 months.

The benefits of treatment with Restylane
A Restylane treatment program represents a modern, innovative and exciting addition to your everyday beauty regimen.
Restylane® mandatory
Restylane® is a Prescription Medicine for the treatment of facial tissue augmentation. Its use is recommended in the correction of wrinkles and lip enhancement.
Do not inject this medicine intravascularly as there is a potential risk of rarely leading to vascular occlusion with transient impairment of vision, transient ischaemia or even necrosis. Do not use in patients with bleeding disorder or patients who have undergone therapy with thrombolytics, anticoagulants, or inhibitors of platelet aggregation in the preceding 2 weeks.
Like any such procedure, the implantation of Restylane® is associated with an inherent risk of infection. Restylane® should not be used in or near anatomic sites where there is active skin disease, inflammation or related conditions.
Patients using substances that may affect platelet function, such as aspirin and NSAIDs, may experience increased bruising or bleeding at injection sites.
Restylane should not be injected into an area where a permanent implant has been placed. The patient should not be exposed to extreme heat or cold until the initial swelling and redness have resolved. It should not be used in pregnant or breastfeeding women or in children.
Common injection-related side effects such as erythema, swelling, pain, itching or tenderness at the implant site may occur. Resolution of these effects is normally spontaneous from a few days after injection into the skin to a week after injection into the lips. Additional, temporary palpable lumpiness has also been noted in some patients.
Other rare side effects such as biopsy proven granuloma formulation, necrosis or persistent discolouration have occurred. There have also been isolated cases of oedema and urticaria reported.
Administration of Restylane should be as per the detailed instructions on the datasheet for the various formulations.
Note: After the first treatment, additional implantations of Restylane may be necessary to achieve the desired level of correction. Times may vary from 6 months to a year.
Restylane is an unfunded medicine. A charge for the medicine will be made in the itemised cost of the consultation.
